CB&I's Asset Solutions business has secured a large operations and maintenance contract in Côte d'Ivoire, covering the safe operation and integrity management of a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel operating in West African waters.

The contract, announced on August 24, 2026, is valued between $50 million and $100 million under CB&I's own contract classification scale and runs for a term of three years.

Scope of Work

Under the terms of the agreement, CB&I will take responsibility for the safe operation, maintenance, integrity management, and regulatory compliance of the FPSO.

The company has not identified the customer, stating that the client elected not to be named in accordance with their standard communications policy. The work scope extends beyond steady-state operations.

CB&I will manage a structured transition from the incumbent service provider currently operating the vessel, and will be responsible for the safe restart and stabilisation of operations during that handover period.

Once operations are stable, CB&I's obligations include maintaining life-of-field asset integrity and reliability, as well as securing class certification for the vessel.

In-Country Presence and Local Content

CB&I cited its established presence in Côte d'Ivoire as a factor underpinning the award. The company said it has developed a robust in-country supply chain through that presence and has invested in Ivorian capability development and local content growth.

The announcement did not specify how long CB&I has maintained a direct operational footprint in Côte d'Ivoire specifically, though the company referenced a 20-year presence across the broader African region.

Sandy Merson, Senior Vice President for Asset Operations at CB&I Asset Solutions, said the company has been accelerating its African presence over recent years.

"Over the last few years, we have been accelerating our presence across Africa, building on a 20-year presence in the region and our commitment to bolster the local supply chain and build local workforces," Merson said.

He added that CB&I looks forward to continuing that effort through the provision of safe and efficient production and operations that extend asset life.

CB&I Asset Solutions Background

CB&I Asset Solutions was formerly part of Petrofac before becoming part of CB&I. The business is described by the company as a leading provider of operations, management, wells, and decommissioning services. It operates as one of two global business units within CB&I, alongside Storage Solutions, which the company describes as the world leader in tanks, terminals, and storage systems.

CB&I is owned by a consortium of financial investors led by Mason Capital Management LLC.

The company positions its integrated model as covering the full lifecycle of customer facilities, combining what it describes as technical excellence with execution capability to extend asset life, optimize performance, and maximize value.

FPSO Track Record in Africa

In announcing the contract, CB&I pointed to its technical expertise and track record specifically with FPSO assets, both within Africa and internationally, as central to securing the award.

The FPSO vessel sector has become a significant area of activity for offshore West Africa, where the asset type is widely used for deepwater and offshore production where fixed infrastructure is not deployed.

The announcement did not disclose the identity of the FPSO vessel, the specific field location offshore Côte d'Ivoire, or the name of the field operator. No production volumes or field-specific data were included in the company's public statement.

Contract Classification

CB&I uses a defined internal scale to categorize contract awards by value in its public disclosures. Under that scale, a large contract is defined as falling between USD 50 million and USD 100 million.

The Côte d'Ivoire operations and maintenance award falls within that band.

The company did not provide a more precise contract value. The three-year duration means the contract runs through at least 2029 based on the August 2026 announcement date, though CB&I did not specify an exact start or end date in its public statement.

West Africa Strategy

The award fits into what CB&I has described as a deliberate strategy of expanding its operational presence across Africa. Merson's comments pointed to a multi-year effort to build that presence, underpinned by investment in local workforce development and supply chain establishment.

The company's announcement was published under a broader heading referencing West Africa's energy future, signaling that the region remains a focus area for its Asset Solutions business.

CB&I's Aberdeen, UK office was listed as the location from which the announcement was made, reflecting the Asset Solutions unit's operational base in Scotland, from which the company coordinates a number of its international operations and maintenance contracts.
