SLB OneSubsea has been awarded a contract by Azule Energy to supply control umbilicals for the West Hub Tails project, a development located in Block 15/06 offshore Angola, the company announced on July 9, 2026. The contract will support the redirection of hydrocarbon production from four fields currently tied back to the aging Ngoma floating production, storage, and offloading vessel to the newly installed Agogo FPSO.

Shifting Production Away from an Aging Asset

The West Hub Tails project centers on the Sangos, Ochigufu, Mpungi, and Vandumbu fields, all of which have been producing since 2014 through the Ngoma FPSO. As the Ngoma vessel approaches the end of its design life, Azule Energy is planning to divert all production from these fields to the Agogo FPSO, which has been built to modern standards.

Under the terms of the contract, SLB OneSubsea will design and deliver the additional control umbilicals required to enable that production transition.

The Agogo FPSO, described in the announcement as a newer facility built to modern standards, is expected to considerably reduce emissions compared with continued operation via the aging Ngoma installation. The transition, therefore, serves a dual operational purpose, extending the productive life of the West Hub fields while simultaneously reducing the emissions intensity of that production.

Part of a Broader Integrated West Hub Development

The West Hub Tails project sits within the larger Integrated West Hub development in Block 15/06, a multi-field offshore programme that Azule Energy has been advancing over a number of years. SLB OneSubsea noted that the new contract builds on an existing track record of umbilical deliveries to Azule Energy across the West Hub production centers and the broader IWH development, including work on the Agogo and Ndungu tie-backs.

The company said that the history of prior deliveries has established SLB OneSubsea as what it described as a trusted long-term partner supporting Azule Energy's full-field development strategy in Block 15/06.

The latest award extends that relationship further into the development lifecycle of the asset.

Executive Commentary on the Award

Maria Peralta, vice president of Umbilical and Cable Systems at SLB OneSubsea, commented on the significance of the contract within the context of current operator priorities. "This award reflects the strength of our partnership with Azule Energy and our shared commitment to efficient field development at a time when maximizing recovery is an increasing priority for operators," Peralta said.

She added that by enabling the transition of production to the Agogo FPSO, SLB OneSubsea is helping Azule Energy extend the life of the West Hub fields while supporting what she described as a meaningful reduction in emissions intensity. Peralta characterized the project as a demonstration of how proven subsea infrastructure can deliver both operational continuity and decarbonized production.
