OceanSTAR Elite has begun fabrication of the E-House module for its Sepat FPSO project, with a steel cutting ceremony held at the yard of Jiangsu Weihua Marine. The event was announced on the company's website on October 15, 2026, and represents the latest physical step forward for the floating production vessel since construction of the main hull started in July.

Fabrication Begins on the Accommodation and Control Structure

The E-House module is described as a key accommodation and control structure for the Sepat FPSO. The steel cutting ceremony at Jiangsu Weihua Marine signals the physical start of fabrication for this unit.

It follows the main steel cutting for the Sepat FPSO itself, which took place in July 2026 and marked the start of construction for the broader vessel. With the E-House steel cutting now complete, the project moves deeper into its fabrication phase.

The ceremony is the most recent in a sequence of procurement and construction milestones that have accumulated since OceanSTAR Elite secured the project from PETRONAS Carigali in February 2026.

A Milestone Within a Rapid 2026 Timeline

The Sepat FPSO project has progressed quickly through 2026, according to announcements from OceanSTAR Elite. The timeline to date includes several distinct events.

On February 26, 2026, OceanSTAR Elite secured the FPSO Sepat project from PETRONAS Carigali. Roughly two months later, on April 20, 2026, the company and SBW signed a compressor purchase order for the Sepat FPSO project.

On May 15, 2026, OceanSTAR Elite and CMHI (Jiangsu) signed the EPC contract for the project, formalizing the engineering, procurement and construction arrangement for the vessel. Construction then formally began on July 21, 2026, when steel cutting for the Sepat FPSO took place.

The E-House module steel cutting ceremony at Jiangsu Weihua Marine on October 15, 2026, is the latest entry in that sequence.

Partnership With Weihua Put Into Practice

The location of the ceremony carries its own significance. The E-House fabrication at Jiangsu Weihua Marine is taking place roughly a month after OceanSTAR Elite Group and Weihua Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in September 2026.

That agreement was aimed at strengthening synergistic collaboration in offshore engineering. The fabrication of the E-House module at Weihua's yard represents the practical execution of that partnership, translating a recently signed cooperation framework into active construction work.

Broader Floating Production Portfolio

The Sepat FPSO sits within a wider portfolio of floating production and storage assets that OceanSTAR Elite has delivered or has underway.

Among these is the LDV FSO, which set sail in July 2026 after a delivery period of 16 months. Another is the Block B FSO, for which keel laying was completed ahead of schedule in May 2026.

An Expanding Offshore Track Record

Beyond the Sepat project, OceanSTAR Elite has been active across the offshore energy sector in recent years. The company has secured EPCC contracts for FSO projects and obtained an Approval in Principle certificate for a deepwater FPU generic hull design in January 2025.

In June 2026, it debuted its OceanSTAR Smart platform at OC2026, an initiative intended to connect engineering capability with offshore supply chain collaboration. The company has also pursued a series of strategic cooperation agreements across the offshore supply chain.

These include agreements with PTSC, CM Energy, and AECC Gas Turbine. As part of the relationship with AECC Gas Turbine, OceanSTAR Elite placed a purchase order in March 2026 for five Taihang 7 gas turbines.

Momentum Built Since the Contract Award

From the award of the Sepat FPSO contract by PETRONAS Carigali in February 2026 through compressor procurement, the EPC signing with CMHI (Jiangsu), main hull steel cutting in July, and now E-House fabrication at Jiangsu Weihua Marine, the project has moved steadily from commercial award to physical construction within a span of roughly eight months.

The October ceremony at Weihua's yard builds on that momentum as the Sepat FPSO advances further into its fabrication phase.
