Aberdeen-based software firm Asset55 has secured a new contract from MODEC to deploy its Validate and Execute software solutions on the Gato Do Mato Floating Production Storage and Offloading project, a major offshore development anticipated to come online in 2029 off the coast of Brazil.

Project Overview and Scale

The Gato Do Mato FPSO will be deployed at the Orca field offshore Brazil and is expected to produce up to 120,000 barrels of oil per day when it enters service.

The contract marks a significant addition to Asset55's project portfolio, representing the 20th major capital project supported by the company's software solutions since it was established in 2012.

MODEC, the project contractor, selected Asset55 to provide digital tools spanning the full project lifecycle, from fabrication through to commissioning. The scope of deployment covers two distinct software platforms, each serving a separate but complementary function within the project's execution framework.

Role of Validate Software

Asset55's Validate software will be deployed on the Gato Do Mato project with a focus on data integrity across the entire project lifecycle. According to Asset55, the platform works by creating and maintaining a trusted and consistent data foundation, with the aim of supporting efficient workflows and enabling accurate, reliable decision-making throughout the duration of the project.

Data integrity management has become an increasingly critical function in large-scale FPSO developments, where multiple disciplines and contractors generate and consume large volumes of technical data simultaneously.

The Validate platform is positioned to address the challenges that arise from managing that data across complex, multi-phase project environments.

Execute Software and Integration Planning

Alongside Validate, Asset55's Execute software will provide multi-discipline, multi-phase visualisation and analytics tools designed to give project teams enhanced visibility across fabrication, integration, and commissioning phases.

A key focus of the Execute deployment on Gato Do Mato will be integration planning. Specifically, the software will be used to support MODEC's "30-day integration" philosophy, a project delivery approach that will be underpinned by the creation of detailed installation work packs aligned with commissioning priorities.

Asset55 states that Execute's toolset is designed to support the kind of structured, sequenced planning that large-scale offshore integration campaigns require.

Asset55's Growing Project Portfolio

The Gato Do Mato award brings Asset55's total count of major capital projects supported to 20. The company, which was founded in 2012 and describes its growth as organic, operates through two divisions: an Operations division and a Capital Projects division.

Its current project portfolio includes work with operators ExxonMobil, Shell, and Equinor, alongside this latest engagement with MODEC.

Asset55 characterises itself as a provider of Software as a Service technology for the global energy sector, with its platforms focused on execution, efficiency, productivity, and safety across the asset lifecycle.

Industry Response

Daniel Cahalane, Regional Director at Asset55, said the award reflects confidence from MODEC in the company's ability to deliver trusted data, enhanced project visibility, and digital workflows that improve execution across fabrication, integration, and commissioning.

"We are delighted to have been selected by MODEC to support the Gato Do Mato FPSO project with our Validate and Execute software solutions," Cahalane said.

"This award reflects the confidence MODEC has in Asset55's ability to deliver trusted data, enhanced project visibility, and digital workflows that improve execution across fabrication, integration, and commissioning.

We look forward to building on our successful track record of supporting major FPSO developments and contributing to the successful delivery of Gato Do Mato."

Context Within the Broader FPSO Sector

The Gato Do Mato FPSO project sits within a broader wave of deepwater development activity offshore Brazil, where the pre-salt fields have driven sustained demand for floating production infrastructure.

FPSO projects of this scale are among the most technically complex undertakings in the energy sector, involving extensive multi-contractor supply chains, long fabrication timelines, and demanding offshore integration campaigns.

The contract underscores a wider trend toward the adoption of specialised digital project execution tools on large capital projects in the energy sector, where data management and cross-discipline coordination have become focal points for project teams seeking to reduce risk and improve delivery outcomes.

Asset55's announcement was made through the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, reflecting the company's continued presence within the northeast Scotland energy technology community, even as its project work extends across global deepwater markets, including Brazil.
